Pimple Causes and Treatment Options

Pimples are formed when the skin pores are clogged or infected resulting into swellings which are usually filled with pus. There are several causes of pimples with hormonal imbalance being the most common of all the causes. Changes in hormonal levels result to change in the production of sebum in the body consequently making the skin greasy. This excess production of serum is what actually causes the blocking of skin pores resulting into pimples development. Oily or fried food stuffs or fat saturated foods also cause pimples. In severe cases, pimples tend to appear in most parts of the body especially around the back, neck, shoulder and even on the chest.

One of the best ways of preventing / treating pimples is by maintaining high skin hygiene. For instance: try washing the face at least three of four times daily as this helps reduce excess oil. Also stick to using medicated soaps and gels using lukewarm water to clean your face dry. Avoid scrubbing your face harshly as this is likely to irritate the skin and also increases chances of you popping pimples consequently causing more fresh breakouts.

Next, try as much as possible to avoid squeezing, popping or picking pimples on the skin. This is because doing so will most likely cause scarring in some cases even worsens the blemish. Take note, the more pimples develop, the more the number of white blood cells also increases. White blood cells are very important in dealing with pimples mainly because they help prevent infections from penetrating into the lower skin layers. This is why pimples that are never touched are always end up disappearing as white cells move in and take care of all living bacteria.

Although pimples have proven to be a menace for a while now especially to the teenage population, good news is: at the moment there are several methods that range from covering up symptoms using creams to dealing surely with the root cause of pimples. The best way to treat pimples is by taking advantage of a combination of treatments. Otherwise feel free to consult a dermatologist in case your pimples seem to be persistent or make you feel very uncomfortable in order to have the most appropriate medication prescribed for you.

Pimples - What are the Causes?

Many people most especially men suffer from pimples during their adolescent days. Conversely, women are most likely to develop pimples after puberty stage or right after they have passed their 20's. But what causes pimples and how will you be able to prevent them?

Fotolia_1624343_xs

The truth of the matter is that it is not yet clear until these modern days as to what is really the main cause why some people have pimples. Nevertheless, experts have identified some factors that may contribute to the development of pimples. Once any of these factors are being triggered, the tendency of having pimples can be relatively higher.

One of the culprits is hormonal imbalance. The sex hormones such as testosterone among men and progesterone among women can be overly synthesized and eventually cause hormonal imbalance. At times, a woman's body can produce more testosterone which is a male hormone than progesterone. This imbalance will then lead to the development of not only pimples but as well as excessive growth of unwanted hairs and some other adversarial effects.

In relation with the hormones, having pimples can also be hereditary. If any of your parents have had pimples during their teenage years, chances are you will also develop pimples.
Oily skin is yet another factor that can also trigger pimples. Pimples are basically made up of oil, bacteria and dead skin cells. Bacteria can penetrate the pores and cause infection to the oil gland. As a result, pustules occur and a single pustule can get even more severe and cause inflammation until it develops into acne.

Unfortunately, there is no such scientific breakthrough that can modify your DNA composition in order for you to get rid of the genes that can bring about the attributions of any of your parents who have had pimple breakouts before. Meanwhile, you can still do something to prevent the triggers such as by keeping your face clean free of oil, dirt and dead skin cells all the time.

Pimples - What Causes Them

Pimples are mainly caused by the clogging of oil in the pores of the skin. It aggravates the formation of pus in the boils and spreads all around the area. Pores of the skin are mainly blocked due to excessive secretion of oil, sweat or accumulation of dust.

Here is a brief description of some of the primary causes of pimples:

Sensitivity to Testosterone - Some people are over sensitive to normal blood levels of testosterone which makes the sebaceous glands produce excess sebum. It increases the chances of clogging up of the dead skin cells which leads to the eruption of pimples.

Heavy Makeup - Heavy makeup can aggravate the occurrence of pimples as it clogs the pores and causes the eruption of pimples. Hence, it is always recommended to clean your face and remove all the makeup applied on your skin before sleeping. It is recommended to use a delicate face wash for removing the make up in order to avoid any kind of irritation on the skin.

Harsh Cleaning Methods - Harsh cleaning methods can also be a major reason for the pimples to erupt. If you scrub your face a lot or use a rough surface for wiping, it can irritate the skin and cause pimples. If there are already pimples on the skin, it is recommended not to scrub the face as it causes the pimples to spread.

Bad food habits - If your diet includes large quantity of junk, spicy and oily food, there are higher chances of the formation of pimples. Junk food upsets the stomach and sometimes also causes the problem of constipation. Hence, you should check your diet and prefer to take a balanced diet with lots of green leafy vegetables.

Sometimes, pimples can also be a hereditary problem however; it is never contagious. Eruption of pimples during the stage of puberty should be considered as a normal phenomenon as a lot of hormonal changes occur in the body at that time.

Pimples - Three Major Causes

Pimples have a habit of appearing at the worst times. They appear when you least expect and can ruin your self esteem. However, the sooner you know the causes of pimples, the sooner you will be able to prevent an outbreak. The following are some of the common causes of pimples:

Fotolia_10492546_xs

1. Touching your face too much can lead to an outbreak of pimples. This is because when we touch our face, there is no guarantee that our hands will be clean all the time. We might have touched dirty surfaces somewhere or shaken hands with someone who has dirty hands. The dirt from our hands causes the pores on our skin to clog and break out in pimples.

2. Consumption of junk foods also causes our skin to break out in pimples. This is because the foods cause the insulin level in your blood stream to rise thus causing a hormonal imbalance. This is one of the reasons that pimples break out as a result of eating junk foods. Foods that contain a lot of vegetable oil, saturated fats and plenty of sugar should therefore be avoided.

3. Oily skin is also another cause of pimples. Skin that is oily tends to clog pores. One mistake that people make with oily skin is washing it too much with harsh soaps. This only causes the skin to produce more oil and consequently clogging the pores. Glycerin soaps or sorbitol are the best for washing this kind of skin. It should also be well moisturized with lotions or creams that do not have an oily base.

These are just some of the basic causes of pimples. Pimples can appear not only on your face but also on your back, chest and butt. Avoid scratching on the pimples because this can cause them to spread to the rest of your face and body.

Pimples - The Most Common Causes

Pimples can be extremely embarrassing and agonizing. It is not easy to get rid of them, which could prove to be a bitter experience. But, what is more disturbing is the fact that most people are not fully aware of the reasons behind the occurrence of this particular problem. In this article, you would be able to explore crucial points that cause pimples. Knowing the causes is of utmost importance especially if you are looking to prevent the breakouts.

Fotolia_11146348_xs

Touching the face a lot is one of the most important causes of pimples. By touching the face with dirty hands, you, in turn, end up irritating your face's skin. It can lead to breakouts. Moreover, scratching also contributes heavily in the growth of pimples across the other areas. Therefore, it is important to ensure that you neither touch your face too often with unsafe hands, nor scratch them.

Another common reason behind the occurrence of pimples is the junk food. Try to avoid fast foods as much as possible. Make sure to stay away from foods that contain heavy amounts of sugar, saturated fats, and vegetable oils. The type of foods that you must avoid eating may include cookies, sugar, chocolates, fast food items, chips, and other types of junk food. The reason why you should avoid eating these foods is the fact that they make your insulin to rise and induce hormonal imbalance.

If you want to avoid pimples, then avoid oily skin. Oily skin causes your skin pores to get clogged. Wash your face at least a couple of times a day. Use glycerin or sorbitol soaps. People having dry skin must ensure daily intake of water.

These are some important causes that you need to keep an eye out for. Once you have developed this problem, it is vital that you ensure proper control over them by fighting off the causes.
