Pimple Causes and Treatment Options

Pimples are formed when the skin pores are clogged or infected resulting into swellings which are usually filled with pus. There are several causes of pimples with hormonal imbalance being the most common of all the causes. Changes in hormonal levels result to change in the production of sebum in the body consequently making the skin greasy. This excess production of serum is what actually causes the blocking of skin pores resulting into pimples development. Oily or fried food stuffs or fat saturated foods also cause pimples. In severe cases, pimples tend to appear in most parts of the body especially around the back, neck, shoulder and even on the chest.

One of the best ways of preventing / treating pimples is by maintaining high skin hygiene. For instance: try washing the face at least three of four times daily as this helps reduce excess oil. Also stick to using medicated soaps and gels using lukewarm water to clean your face dry. Avoid scrubbing your face harshly as this is likely to irritate the skin and also increases chances of you popping pimples consequently causing more fresh breakouts.

Next, try as much as possible to avoid squeezing, popping or picking pimples on the skin. This is because doing so will most likely cause scarring in some cases even worsens the blemish. Take note, the more pimples develop, the more the number of white blood cells also increases. White blood cells are very important in dealing with pimples mainly because they help prevent infections from penetrating into the lower skin layers. This is why pimples that are never touched are always end up disappearing as white cells move in and take care of all living bacteria.

Although pimples have proven to be a menace for a while now especially to the teenage population, good news is: at the moment there are several methods that range from covering up symptoms using creams to dealing surely with the root cause of pimples. The best way to treat pimples is by taking advantage of a combination of treatments. Otherwise feel free to consult a dermatologist in case your pimples seem to be persistent or make you feel very uncomfortable in order to have the most appropriate medication prescribed for you.
